**Overview and Responsibilities**
As a Medical Billing Customer Support Specialist at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in providing support to our patients, referral sources, and employees. You'll be the first point of contact for new customers, ensuring that they receive accurate and timely information about our products and services. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Providing exceptional customer service and support to patients, referral sources, and employees
* Processing new orders, responding to questions, and resolving issues in a timely manner
* Collecting co-pays and deductible amounts
* Conducting insurance verification and eligibility for services/products
* Conducting patient satisfaction calls and acting as a patient advocate to resolve questions or concerns
* Developing and maintaining a working knowledge of current products and services, Medicare, Medicaid, insurance regulations, and FDA/DOT and JCAHO guidelines
* Maintaining accuracy and quality control throughout patient contact and data entry
* Managing all aspects of initial intake, including answering phone calls and receiving faxes, collecting patient and referral source information, inputting data into our proprietary system, and assembling charts and processing paperwork
* Obtaining authorization and qualification documentation
* Preparing complete and accurate files for the Billing Department
* Processing work orders to field locations and coordinating timely fulfillment of products and services ordered
* Providing product/service information and education by answering questions and offering assistance
* Providing thorough review and Quality Assurance for medical necessity and documentation requirements of payors and regulatory bodies
* Working extensively with our proprietary system, eIntake
**Essential Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* A high school diploma or GED equivalent
* One to three years of related prior work experience in a team-oriented environment
* Experience in the medical field and administrative record management
* Strong customer service background
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* Knowledge of medical billing practices and of billing reimbursement
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
* Medical terminology knowledge
* Multi-tasking and attention to detail skills
* Self-motivation, organized, time-management, and deductive problem-solving skills
* Sense of urgency and responsiveness to physicians, location employees, and patients
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
**Preferred Qualifications**
While not required, the following qualifications would be beneficial:
* Experience working with medical billing software and systems
* Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance regulations
* Certification in medical billing or a related field
* Experience working in a remote or virtual environment
