The Account Executive will manage and grow an assigned book of existing customers, focusing on relationship development and customer retention while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an assigned book of existing customers through wallet share expansion and relationship development
- Execute account plans focused on customer retention, service excellence, and incremental growth
- Conduct regular customer visits, job-site meetings, and check-ins to understand customer needs and support ongoing projects
- Partner closely with branch operations, inside sales, and customer support teams to deliver a consistent and high-quality customer experience
- Collaborate with hunter-style Outside Sales Representatives to support the transition of newly acquired customers into managed accounts
- Participate in joint customer calls and onboarding meetings to ensure a smooth handoff and strong customer experience
- Identify selective new business opportunities through referrals, white space, and customer relationships
- Align customers with manufacturer partners and vendor resources to support product education and project needs
- Negotiate pricing and terms within established company guidelines and approval frameworks
- Utilize CRM and sales tools to manage customer activity, pipeline visibility, and account documentation
- Maintain working knowledge of products, programs, and market dynamics
- Travel regularly within the assigned territory to support customer relationships
Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in outside sales, account management, inside sales, or customer-facing roles
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and support account growth
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Comfort using CRM systems, sales technology, and data to manage activity and accounts
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Experience in building materials, construction, wholesale distribution, or a related industry preferred
- Spanish bilingual proficiency is a plus
