Job Title UI/UX Product Designer (Z-Axis & Real-Time 3D Visualization) – Mission Critical • *Job Type Contractor / Hourly** Compensation & Logistics • Hourly Rate: $75 - $115 per hour (dependent on portfolio relevance and demonstrated proficiency) • Location: Fully Remote (Must reside within the United States) Company & Project Overview The Challenge: Solving the Z-Axis Problem X and Y tracking are solved problems. The critical missing link in first responder situational awareness is the Z-axis—the precise vertical location (floor level) inside complex, multi-story buildings during a chaotic emergency. We have built the backend hardware based technology to determine this exact elevation data. We now need a visionary UI/UX designer to solve the visualization problem. We need you to take raw live telemetry and render it into an instantaneous, intuitive interface that allows an Incident Commander to know, without question, exactly which floor their firefighters are on. This is not a static dashboard; it is a life-saving tactical tool. The Role We are seeking a senior-level Product Designer (UI/UX) who thinks spatially and excels at visualizing complex real-time data within 3D environments. Your primary objective will be to design the user interface for our real-time 3D tracking system integrated with existing fire departments 3D systems. You will create the visual standard for tracking vertical movement within multi-floor building models. This role demands a high level of proficiency and is ideal for a designer with experience in game UI (specifically 3D strategy/tactical games), digital twins, AR/VR spatial design, or high-end geospatial dashboards. Key Responsibilities • Z-Axis Visualization: Define and design the primary visual methodology for representing vertical height, inter-floor movement, and floor level confirmation in real-time. • 3D Tactical Interface: Design a real-time command dashboard that seamlessly integrates 3D building models with personnel status (biometrics, air supply), dynamic event alerts, and location telemetry. • Cognitive Load Engineering: Rigorously design for low cognitive load. The UI must becomprehensible in seconds under extreme stress, environmental glare, and chaos. • End-to-End Prototyping: Take spatial interface concepts from initial sketches to high-fidelity, interactive prototypes that simulate real-time data flows. • Technical Collaboration: Work closely with backend z-axis engineers and frontend 3D rendering engineers (e.g., Three.js, WebGL) to ensure technical feasibility and pixel-perfect implementation of spatial concepts. • User Validation: Collaborate with public safety subject matter experts to test design concepts and iteratively refine the UI based on tactical feedback. Required Qualifications • Senior Level Experience: 5+ years of Product/UI design experience, specializing in complex data systems, 3D visualization, GIS/mapping, or real-time simulation dashboards. • CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: A robust, high-level portfolio that explicitly demonstrates your proficiency in handling 3D/spatial UI visualization. We are looking for work that proves you think spatially and can solve the Z-axis problem. Note: Portfolios containing only standard 2D mobile apps or standard e-commerce UI will not be considered. • Remote & US-Based: High self-motivation, strong asynchronous communication skills, and residency within the US. • Prototyping Mastery: Expert proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch) capable of simulating real-time interactions. • Data Visualization Expertise: Deep understanding of managing real-time data streams, alert hierarchy, and complex telemetry dashboards. Bonus Qualifications (What Will Make You Stand Out) • Experience coding or deeply understanding technically constrained 3D rendering environments (WebGL, Three.js, Unity, Unreal Engine). • Experience designing software for first responders, public safety, mission control, military applications, or high-stakes industrial digital twins. • Understanding of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and architectural blueprint data visualization. Why this role? This is a rare opportunity to use your specialized spatial design skills to build something that has a profound, life-saving impact. You won’t just be designing another interface; you will be creating the tool that ensures every first responder makes it home safe.
