About Motorized Precision
Motorized Precision builds advanced robotic motion control systems for film, broadcast, virtual production, product cinematography, visual effects, and creative automation. Our systems combine robotics, camera movement, software, hardware, and precision engineering to help creators capture highly repeatable and dynamic motion.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Technical CAD / 3D Generalist to support Fusion 360 CAD design, Blender 3D modeling, product documentation, and customer-facing training materials. The core focus is Fusion 360 and Blender, but the role grows into hardware support, customer training, and technical documentation over time. We're open to entry-to-mid-level candidates with a strong portfolio. You don't need to be an expert in everything on day one.
What You'll Do
Design mechanical parts, mounts, adapters, brackets, fixtures, and assemblies in Fusion 360
Create accurate CAD models for hardware development, product design, and customer-facing assets
Prepare CAD files for 3D printing, fabrication, assembly, and testing
Support design revisions based on testing, feedback, fitment, and customer needs
Create high-quality Blender models for product visualization, training assets, software environments, and marketing
Bake textures and apply realistic materials for lifelike 3D models
Optimize models for software use — reduce file size, simplify geometry, and prepare clean exports
Keep files organized and versioned; help create assembly instructions and visual training materials
Required Skills
Strong CAD design in Fusion 360 — parts, assemblies, hardware-ready designs
Mechanical design basics: scale, fitment, fasteners, tolerances, fabrication methods
Strong attention to detail and clean file organization
Based in Oregon (Portland area preferred)
Strong 3D modeling in Blender — clean geometry, texture baking, realistic materials
Ability to optimize 3D models for software use without losing important detail
Able to work independently, take feedback, and communicate clearly
Ability to design parts that can be manufactured, printed, and used in real-world environments
Nice-to-Have Skills
Designing for 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, or fabrication
Hands-on hardware, prototypes, camera systems, or robotic assembly experience
Basic coding or scripting — Python, JavaScript, Blender Python, Fusion 360 API
Arduino, Raspberry Pi, microcontrollers, sensors, or basic electronics
Product renders, animations, technical visualizations, or digital twins in Blender
Git, version control, or structured file management
Documentation, assembly instructions, setup guides, or training material
Interest in robotics, motion control, cinema technology, or creative automation
Growth Areas
Over time this role may expand into: supporting projects from design through prototyping, testing, and customer delivery; assisting with customer setup, training, and technical support; using basic scripting to support hardware testing or automation workflows; and deepening knowledge of robotics, camera systems, and production hardware.
Ideal Candidate
You're a hands-on designer who likes building real things. You're comfortable designing functional parts in Fusion 360, creating realistic and optimized 3D assets in Blender, and improving your work through feedback and testing. You're curious, practical, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. You can take a rough idea, ask smart questions, create a model, and improve it over time.
How to Apply
Please submit:
A resume or short summary of your experience
A portfolio showing Fusion 360 CAD design and Blender 3D modeling work
Examples of texture baking, realistic materials, or software-ready 3D assets
Any examples of hardware, prototyping, fabrication, robotics, or coding projects
Links to GitHub, project videos, renders, CAD examples, demo reels, or personal project pages
We're especially interested in projects where you designed something, improved it through feedback or testing, optimized it for real-world use, or solved a practical technical problem.
