Desired Qualifications:
• Valid Michigan teaching certification with a Special Education (SPED) endorsement
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students with mild to moderate special needs preferred
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Commitment to creating an encouraging and supportive learning atmosphere
Responsibilities:
• Instruct and support students receiving special education services, following IEP requirements
• Develop effective lesson plans and adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility for all students on your caseload
• Foster a positive classroom environment, promoting student engagement and independence
• Work collaboratively with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure student success
• Maintain accurate student records in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development to remain informed on best practices
This opportunity is a full-time, on-site contract position and is based within a Detroit-area school building for the full academic year.
