Description:
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for the Apollo humanoid robot by identifying and resolving design and manufacturing bottlenecks.
• Perform root cause analysis on system failures, performance issues, and production inefficiencies and implement corrective solutions.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to integrate mechanical improvements across disciplines.
• Optimize mechanical designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Design, prototype, and test new components and subsystems to improve robot performance.
• Develop and implement best practices for mechanical assembly, testing, and quality control.
• Document design changes and improvements to support clear communication and knowledge transfer.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role with a focus on design for manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Experience with complex electromechanical systems, particularly in robotics, aerospace, or a similar field.
• Expertise in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar tools, and FEA simulation.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes including CNC machining, 3D printing, and injection molding.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing, including the use of lab equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with humanoid robotics or legged locomotion is a significant plus.
