About the Role
As a Lead Information Systems Security Officer, you will play a key role in protecting critical government information systems and data, both on-premises and in cloud environments. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), System Owners (SO), and various security stakeholders, driving the implementation, management, and maintenance of security controls in compliance with federal regulations and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage your deep experience and expertise in cloud security, compliance, and accreditation to drive success in this critical role.
- Serve as a key advisor to CISO, System Owners, and security stakeholders, providing expert guidance on security controls, risk management, and compliance.
- Implement, manage, and maintain security controls in compliance with federal regulations and frameworks, such as FISMA, NIST, and FedRAMP.
- Provide continuous monitoring, incident management, and risk mitigation for traditional IT infrastructure and cloud services.
- Stay updated on public sector regulations, compliance requirements, and industry trends, ensuring our security posture remains robust and effective.
- Participate in, conduct, and present at security meetings, workgroups, and training events, showcasing your expertise and thought leadership.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or 8 years of relevant work experience in cybersecurity or ISSO roles.
- At least 6 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or ISSO roles, with a strong track record of success.
- Any two of the following required certifications:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)
- Strong analytical, task management, time management, and communication skills, with the ability to handle security and risk management initiatives, tasks, and deadlines.
- Effective technical writing skills, with experience writing risk management documentation, such as Plans, SOPs, POA&Ms, policies, and security incident reports.
Preferred Qualifications
To take your application to the next level, consider obtaining:
- AWS Certified Security - Specialty (if the role involves managing cloud environments, particularly in AWS)
- Other applicable certifications, such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or CompTIA Security+
