Experienced Customer Accounts and Billing Manager (Manager 2) – Utility Billing Operations and Process Improvement

If you're a seasoned professional with a passion for leadership, customer service, and process optimization, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. **About the Position** We're seeking an experienced and results-driven Customer Accounts and Billing Manager (Manager 2) to lead our team of 14 technical staff, including Accountants and Technicians. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive training programs, driving process enhancements, and managing an annual revenue of over $56 million. Your expertise in utility billing practices, regulatory compliance, and process improvement will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our billing operations. **Responsibilities** As the Experienced Customer Accounts and Billing Manager (Manager 2), you'll have the following key responsibilities: * **Supervise, Coach, and Monitor Team Performance**: Lead and motivate a team of 14 technical staff, including Accountants and Technicians, to achieve exceptional results and high-quality performance. * **Design and Implement Comprehensive Training Programs**: Develop and implement training programs to elevate staff competencies and ensure adherence to billing procedures, ensuring that our team is equipped to deliver exceptional customer experiences. * **Drive Process Enhancements and Improvements**: Proactively identify and drive process enhancements to boost efficiency and accuracy across billing operations, leveraging your expertise in utility billing practices and process improvement. * **Manage Annual Revenue and Billing Adjustments**: Oversee the management of an annual revenue of over $56 million, ensuring accurate and timely processing of billing adjustments and processes. * **Administer the Utility Discount Program**: Ensure accurate and timely processing of billing credits for approximately 17,000 customers, maintaining the integrity of our Utility Discount Program. * **Collaborate with SPU Partners and City Auditors**: Work closely with SPU partners and city auditors to validate and enhance billing accuracy and efficiency, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. * **Cultivate Strong Relationships and Foster a Collaborative Work Environment**: Build and maintain strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and external partners, fostering a collaborative work environment that promotes open communication and teamwork. * **Support and Mentor Team Members**: Provide guidance and support to team members to build a high-performing team and enhance morale, recognizing and rewarding achievements to drive success. * **Assist in Projects Aimed at Improving Billing Accuracy and Implementing New Technologies**: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative solutions, leveraging your expertise in billing management and process improvement. **Requirements** To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following qualifications and skills: * **Minimum of Five (5) Years of Professional Experience**: You'll need a minimum of five years of professional experience related to utility or customer service program management, with a strong understanding of utility billing practices and regulatory compliance. * **At Least Two (2) Years of Supervisory/Lead Experience**: You'll need at least two years of supervisory or lead experience, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and driving process improvements. * **Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Related Field**: You'll need a Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, or two additional years of qualifying experience. * **Proven Experience in Billing Management and Process Improvement**: You'll need proven experience in billing management and process improvement, with a strong understanding of utility billing practices and regulatory compliance. * **Excellent Organizational and Communication Skills**: You'll need excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. * **Proficiency in Relevant Software and Tools**: You'll need proficiency in relevant software and tools, with the ability to adapt to new
