Educational Instructional Designer – Middle School Curriculum

Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced instructional designer to partner with us in building a premium, purpose-driven middle school curriculum focused on talent development, identity, and leadership formation. The Work: You will take established frameworks and ideas and elevate them into well-structured, classroom-ready curriculum materials that are both deeply engaging for students and effortless for teachers to deliver. Deliverables include: Student Workbooks: Clean, intuitive, age-appropriate, and highly engaging Teacher Guides: Clear facilitation language, pacing guidance, and instructional intent Lesson Design: Scaffolded, intentional learning progression across a 25 experience for each grade Activities & Reflection: Thought-provoking, practical, and developmentally appropriate. We have written content- we want someone who can make the content interactive and fun. Curriculum Focus: Talent development (strengths-based lens preferred) Identity formation and self-awareness Personal growth and goal setting Foundational leadership and communication skills Who This Is For (and Not For): This role is a strong fit if you: Have proven experience designing high-quality K–12 curriculum, ideally for middle school Demonstrate deep understanding of instructional design principles (scaffolding, cognitive load, engagement, transfer of learning) Can translate complex developmental concepts into clear, accessible student language Have created both student-facing and teacher-facing materials that are actively used in classrooms Bring a balance of structure, clarity, and creativity Care about building something that is both meaningful and scalable This is likely NOT a fit if you: Primarily write content without structuring learning experiences Lack experience with middle school learners Need heavy direction to translate ideas into curriculum Have not built teacher guides or facilitated instructional materials Preferred Experience (Strong Advantage): Strengths-based or talent development frameworks (e.g., CliftonStrengths or Strengths Explorer) Leadership or character development programming Designing curriculum that integrates reflection, discussion, and real-world application Project Structure: Initial phase: 1 grade level (25 lesson curriculum) for student and teacher.
