Volunteer Grant Writer-Arts-Based NonProfit

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Grant Writing Volunteer to join our dynamic team. This is a volunteer position with the option of receiving academic credit and/or a future recommendation, as applicable. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop essential skills as part of a start-up nonprofit in fundraising, proposal writing, and program development while supporting innovative arts and music initiatives. Whether working remotely or in a hybrid setting, you will play a vital role in helping our organization secure funding that fuels our mission to enrich communities through creative expression. Duties • Assist in researching potential funding sources, including government agencies, foundations, and corporate sponsors using databases and research tools • Support the preparation and writing of compelling grant proposals, including technical writing and narrative development • Help compile and organize necessary documentation such as budgets, financial reports, and program descriptions for grant applications • Contribute to maintaining accurate records of grant activities within grant management systems like Raiser's Edge or similar databases • Proofread and edit proposal drafts to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to funder guidelines • Collaborate with program staff to develop strategic plans and budgets that align with grant requirements • Track deadlines, prepare submission packages, and assist with follow-up reports to ensure compliance with funder expectations Requirements • Strong writing skills with experience in proposal writing, technical writing, or editing • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other grant databases is helpful • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required • Excellent research skills to identify new funding opportunities and gather relevant information • Ability to proofread documents meticulously and produce clear financial report writing • Basic understanding of program development, strategic planning, and budgeting within nonprofit settings • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively • Prior experience or coursework related to arts & music nonprofits is desirable but not required Join us as a Grant Writing Volunteer and help turn creative visions into reality! • Please email: [email protected] with your resume and a brief cover letter to apply!
