Community Legal Aid is seeking a Temporary Immigration Law Attorney to join their team for a one-year period. The attorney will provide legal assistance in various immigration law matters and engage in community outreach efforts.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal assistance in a range of humanitarian-based immigration law matters, including but not limited to removal defense, VAWA petitions, U and T visas, SIJ petitions, and asylum cases
- Engage in community outreach, including community consultation sessions and know-your-rights trainings
- Assist in the preparation of periodic grant reports
Skills
- New law school graduates and more experienced lawyers are eligible to apply
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative setting are important
- Fluency or advanced proficiency in language in addition to English strongly preferred, particularly Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole
- Prior experience in immigration law and demonstrated experience working with diverse communities strongly preferred
