Stelo Support Engineer
We are looking for a talented and motivated support engineer to join our team and provide excellent technical support for our software, Stelo Data Replicator. As a support engineer, you will be responsible for helping our customers resolve issues and answer questions related to the installation, configuration, performance-tuning and use of our product.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background working daily with relational databases such as Db2, Oracle, or SQL Server, along with solid networking skills in both on-premise and cloud environments. In addition, the candidate should have hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of modern big data and data warehouse technologies such as Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse), Databricks, Kafka, Snowflake, BigQuery, or comparable platforms, including data ingestion, transformation, and analytics workflows. The role also requires comfort engaging directly with customers on technical calls, gathering requirements, and driving effective resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Provide timely and effective technical support to customers via Zendesk, email, phone, and remote sessions
Perform software installation and upgrade as well as replication configuration and tuning
Troubleshoot data replication issues and provide solutions to customers
Play the DBA role for internal dev environments that include Db2, Oracle, Databricks, Big Query, Snowflake, Confluent, etc.
Develop and maintain technical expertise in our data replication product and related technologies
Document customer issues and solutions in our internal knowledge base
Be available for occasional as-needed on-call support
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a strong customer service orientation and clear, effective communication abilities—both written and verbal
2+ years of experience in database administration including installation and configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery and troubleshooting for relational databases such as Db2, Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL.
2+ years of experience with big data and data warehouses technologies such as Microsoft Fabric's Lakehouse, Databricks, Kafka, Snowflake, Big Query, etc.
Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and routing, with hands-on experience troubleshooting connectivity issues in complex hybrid (on-prem/cloud) environments. Proficient in diagnosing and resolving problems related to firewalls, VPNs, and SSL/TLS that impact database communication and data replication reliability
Proficiency using diagnostic tools like Wireshark, traceroute, netstat, and cloud-native monitoring (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Network Watcher) to analyze connectivity and protocol behavior (TCP/IP, SSL/TLS) impacting replication stability and throughput
Skilled at identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in data replication workflows caused by network issues such as latency, packet loss, or SSL/VPN misconfigurations—both in customer on-premises and cloud-hosted environments (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Familiarity with Linux and Windows Server environments
Preferred Qualifications
DBAs are strongly encouraged to apply
Experience with data replication technologies
Proficiency in PowerShell and Unix shell scripting
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker

The position is 100% remote, full-time, and exempt
Stelo will provide all necessary computer equipment
Employee is responsible for providing a suitable workspace
Employee will be assigned a fixed weekly schedule
Candidate should expect to work Pacific time hours most days
Salary $90,000-$130,000 commensurate with experience
