About the Role
The RN Clinical Educator - Nurse Residency will play a vital role in shaping the future of nursing at Sanford Health by developing, implementing, and evaluating education and training programs for new and existing clinical staff. This position will collaborate with clinical partners, educational facilities, and community agencies to create a comprehensive curriculum that supports the growth and development of our nursing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Nurse Residency and Student Internship programs, ensuring a smooth transition for new nurses and students into the Sanford Health team.
- Assess, plan, coordinate, teach, and evaluate education and training programs for designated areas and audiences, utilizing adult learning principles and various teaching methodologies.
- Develop alternative education methodologies based on learning principles, promoting innovative and effective learning experiences.
- Collaborate with clinical partners, educational facilities, and community agencies to develop curriculum and stay abreast of industry best practices.
- Provide orientation, staff development, and ongoing professional development, education, and mentoring for new, transferring, and existing clinical staff and partners.
- Participate in coordinating orientation schedules, skills immersion, and lab experiences, ensuring a comprehensive onboarding process.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and mentorship to designated audiences, promoting professional growth and development.
- Continuously develop, monitor, and evaluate programs related to orientation, professional development, education, and mentoring, identifying opportunities for quality improvement.
- Facilitate consensus building around educational interventions among subject matter experts and leadership.
- Develop strong alliances with department leaders, clinical partners, community agencies, and consortium institutions to promote collaborative education initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree in Nursing, or a plan in place to achieve a Master's degree within three years of hire.
- Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program, such as CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA.
- Three years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- A current, unencumbered RN license in the state(s) of practice and/or multi-state licensure privileges.
- Required department-specific competencies and certifications.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and coordination skills, with the ability to facilitate educational programs and utilize adult learning principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Experience in nursing education, staff development, or a related field.
- Certifications in nursing education, such as CNE or CNEcl.
