Remote Telecommunications Field Technician

Overview We are hiring a Remote Telecommunications Field Technician. The position requires the candidate to live within 1 hour of Nashua, NH and will be dispatched from home. The technician will support FAA contracts (FTI, ADSB, DCNS) and other FSG programs at the Boston Air Route Control Center and remote sites in the Boston airspace. Responsibilities • Support‑level position requiring thorough knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems and equipment, gained through formal education or significant experience. • Install, repair, configure, test and perform preventative maintenance of network equipment, telecommunications equipment, and computers. • Use Microsoft or UNIX operating systems and components of the MS Office Suite; maintain records on repairs, downtime, changes and updates. Network Knowledge / Skills • Good working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement (RJ‑11, RJ‑45, DB‑25, V.35, RS‑449) • Excellent knowledge of fiber, multiplexes, network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T‑1, SONET, ATM, private lines, voice and data applications • Good knowledge of power testing (AC/DC, 3‑Phase, 24VDC & 48VDC power supplies) • Experience with network and circuit testing: T1, DS3, digital (BERT) and analog VG testing within Bell Core Standards • Knowledge and use of network test equipment: JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, digital oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para‑scope, or other T1/DS3 test sets Computer Knowledge / Skills • Basic software troubleshooting and diagnostics • Point of contact for unresolved problems from Help Desk or NOC • Installation of hardware and software including operating system and office applications • Provide hardware, software and network technical support to end‑users • Assist with setup and configuration of system hardware and software (Microsoft Office suite) Qualifications • High‑school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 8 years relevant experience OR associate degree with minimum 4 years relevant experience • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance Preferred Additional Skills • Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, A+ • Ability to work from home in an “on‑call” status • Capable of lifting 70 pounds • Willing to travel up to 100% of the time to remote sites within 4‑hour drive circle of base location; may be asked to travel outside assigned region • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record as condition of employment • Capable of using ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10 feet • Willingness and/or ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours for operational needs and after‑hours emergency calls • Excellent customer service skills • Ability to work in high‑stress and visibility environment • Professional appearance Compensation • Base Salary: USD $75,000 to $80,000 per year • Full‑time position • Benefits: Full • Relocation assistance: No • Commission compensation: No • Bonus eligible: No • Overtime eligible: No • Interview travel reimbursed: No Candidate Details • Experience: 7+ to 10 years • Seniority Level: Mid‑Senior • Management Experience: No • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent • Willingness to Travel: Always • Security Clearance Required: No • Visa Candidate Considered: No Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
