About the Role Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated **Remote** Technical Animator to join their innovative game development studio. You will be responsible for creating robust character rigs, developing advanced animation systems, and implementing animations that meet the highest quality standards for our upcoming projects. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain complex character and creature rigs using industry-standard software. Create and refine animation systems, including blend trees, state machines, and IK/FK setups. Craft high-quality character animations, ensuring natural movement, expressive performances, and adherence to the project's art style. Collaborate with animators to troubleshoot and optimize animation assets. Write scripts (e.g., Python, MEL) to automate repetitive tasks and improve the animation pipeline efficiency. Work closely with engineers to integrate animation systems and ensure performance optimization within the game engine. Analyze and implement motion capture data, providing technical support for mocap shoots. Ensure animations meet the technical requirements and quality bar of the project. Stay current with the latest advancements in character rigging, animation techniques, and related technologies. Provide technical guidance and support to the animation team. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Animation, Computer Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technical Animator or Rigger in the game industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing rigging, animation, and scripting skills. Proficiency in 3D animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or equivalent. Expertise in character rigging, including facial rigging and complex deformation techniques. Strong understanding of human and creature anatomy, and principles of animation. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL) for pipeline automation. Familiarity with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and their animation systems. Knowledge of motion capture technology and data cleanup is a plus. Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities, essential for a **fully remote** role.
