They are seeking an experienced Technical Accounting professional to provide guidance on complex business transactions, new accounting standards, and financial reporting matters while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
Responsibilities
- Research, analyze, and document accounting conclusions for complex transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS
- Evaluate contracts and business arrangements to determine appropriate accounting treatment, including revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, financial instruments, equity transactions, and other technical accounting matters as applicable
- Prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting accounting positions and key judgments
- Assess the accounting impact of new products, commercial arrangements, strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and organizational changes
- Interpret and implement new accounting standards, including evaluating impacts on financial reporting, policies, processes, and internal controls
- Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Sales, FP&A, Tax, Operations, and other stakeholders to provide accounting guidance during contract negotiations and business decision-making
- Support quarterly and annual financial reporting by addressing technical accounting matters, preparing disclosures, and assisting with external reporting requirements
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to support audits and reviews, including providing technical analyses and documentation
- Evaluate accounting estimates and significant judgments, including considerations related to materiality and financial statement presentation
- Assist in designing and improving accounting processes, controls, and operational procedures to enhance efficiency while maintaining compliance
- Monitor emerging accounting guidance and regulatory developments and communicate potential impacts to management
- Support SOX compliance and internal control initiatives related to technical accounting and financial reporting
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred
- 8+ years of experience in technical accounting, public accounting, financial reporting, or accounting advisory
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS knowledge is a plus
- Experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex business transactions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing technical accounting documentation
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and communicate complex accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Experience collaborating across multiple functional teams in a dynamic business environment
- Big Four or national public accounting firm experience
- Experience supporting publicly traded companies or companies preparing for public reporting
- Knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), business combinations (ASC 805), and other significant accounting standards
- Proficiency in ERP (Oracle, SAP) and revenue recognition tools (e.g., NetSuite, Zuora, Salesforce CPQ, RevPro)
- Familiarity with SOX compliance, internal controls, and external audit processes
- Experience in technology, software, SaaS, manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare, or other complex accounting environments
