Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sage Settlement Consulting is the nation’s largest settlement planning team, offering innovative solutions to plaintiff attorneys and their clients. The Settlement Consultant will guide claimants through the settlement planning process, building relationships with attorneys and assessing individual needs for optimal settlement outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with plaintiff attorneys and law firms within your sphere of influence, serving as their go-to settlement planning resource
- Meet with claimants — often at a vulnerable point in their lives — to assess individual needs, goals, and potential settlement roadblocks
- Present and explain settlement planning options, including structured settlement annuities, market-based structured settlements, trust services, wealth management services, and government benefit preservation strategies
- Coordinate with attorneys on lien resolution, Medicare Set-Asides, Qualified Settlement Funds, and probate coordination as needed
- Educate attorneys on attorney fee deferral strategies to help them retain and grow more of their contingency fees on a tax-deferred basis
- Represent Sage at mediations, settlement conferences, trial lawyer association meetings, and industry events within your area
- Stay current on IRS guidelines and industry developments affecting settlement planning
Skills
- Prior experience in structured settlements, financial services, insurance, or a related consultative sales/advisory role (experience serving plaintiff attorneys is critical)
- Existing relationships within the plaintiff bar in your area
- Comfort working independently in a remote, field-based role while staying connected to a larger national team
- Strong communication skills — you'll need to explain complex financial and legal concepts clearly to attorneys and claimants who may have no prior experience with settlement planning
- Licensing eligibility (or existing licensure) in insurance and/or securities, as applicable to the role and state
- Willingness to travel within your area for attorney meetings, mediations, legal conferences, and claimant consultations
Benefits
- Ongoing investment in your growth through webinars, regional trainings, national trainings, conferences, and team meetings
