The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide development support and conceptual design services, focusing on technical evaluations and engineering design reviews.
Responsibilities
- Provide development support, conceptual design and owner’s engineer services to clients including performing technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilities
- Support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development
- Engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, project development support, and conceptual design
Skills
- This position requires a BSME in mechanical engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background
- 10 or more years of experience in the electric power industry, including experience in detailed design of the mechanical systems of conventional power projects, specifically: Simple cycle gas turbines, Combined cycle projects, Coal fired generation, Steam systems, or Reciprocating engines (RICE)
- Experience in development support and conceptual design of conventional power projects
- Excellent technical communication and writing skills are required
- Experience in technical due diligence and owner's engineering design reviews of conventional power projects is a plus
- General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews is a plus
- General understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities is a plus
- Economic, cost analysis, and contract development experience is a plus
- A familiarity with international design codes and standards is preferred
- Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not required
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows
