GE Vernova is a part of Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas LLC, focusing on safety analysis for plant thermal-hydraulic stability and related analyses. The Senior Engineer will perform various safety analyses, engage with interdisciplinary teams, and provide technical mentoring while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform plant thermal-hydraulic stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, and other safety analyses with general expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques
- Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, Stability methods implementation, new fuel design and introduction, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues
- Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engage with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions
- Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with internal and external project managers, technical personnel, and customers on technical issues
- Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers
- Provide technical mentoring to support Stability Analysis staff development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence
- Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests, as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer
- Contribute to team process improvements to drive speed and simplification
- Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 5 years of experience in plant T-H Stability Safety Analysis and Methods
- This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government
- Experience in BWR Plant T-H Stability analyses, plant noise analyses, PRNM stability interface, stability setpoints methodology, and frequency and time domain methodologies
- Ph.D. and/or M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T-H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems
- Experience with BWR technology and BWR Stability analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of plant operational support in the Stability area
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
- Experience with BWR simulator and use of 3-D neutron kinetics (e.g., PANAC)
- Experience with BWR/PWR T/H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, & TRACE
- Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON
