The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of accounting professionals and managing core accounting functions, providing strategic direction, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth to achieve business objectives
- Serve as a senior accounting liaison and strategic partner for cross-functional activities across the Company, including Finance, Sales, and Operations
- Own and drive the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion including reviewing journal entries, approving general ledger (GL) details, and identifying areas for process improvement
- Prepare monthly reporting package and analysis
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, research discrepancies, and correct errors
- Manage our third-party trade and deductions specialists to ensure timely and accurate reporting of operational issues as well as promotional trade activity. This will also include working closely with our sales and operations teams
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, including documentation and compliance with company accounting policies
- Optimize accounting workflows through automation, system enhancements, and best practices
- Support the annual budgeting, long-range planning, and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals
- Oversee the AP process to ensure vendor invoices are entered correctly and payments are made timely
- Review customer AR and ensure customers pay timely
- Serve as the primary liaison for external audit requests
- Support management completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and analysis requests
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making across the business

Skills
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
- A background in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) and manufacturing
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing accounting teams, including mentoring managers and senior staff, and driving accountability to goals and deliverables
- Proven experience in deductions management, trade accounting, and COGs accounting
- Strong Excel skills with ability to build reports and models
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen ability to clearly convey information to consumers and colleagues
- A high-level of strategic thinking, collaboration, change management, and business acumen
- Ability to influence others to accept practices & approaches and to communicate & influence executive leadership
- A history of leading by example, taking initiative to create or enhance processes, and building strong foundations with your coworkers
- Stellar leadership skills including leading projects across different departments
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
- NetSuite experience preferred
