Our client, a rapidly expanding mid-sized corporation with a distributed workforce, is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant, CPA required, to join their finance team on a fully remote basis. This position is essential for managing complex accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent analytical skills, and a proven ability to work independently in a remote setting. You will play a key role in month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and compliance.
Responsibilities: Manage and oversee all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis. Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Prepare and review financial statements and reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance. Assist with annual financial audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to external auditors. Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies between actual results and budget/forecast. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations and assess their impact on the company. Support budgeting and forecasting activities, providing relevant financial data and insights. Train and mentor junior accounting staff on best practices and company procedures. Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure accurate financial data capture. Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding financial information. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is mandatory. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Proven experience with month-end and year-end close procedures. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines consistently. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a remote setting. Experience with internal controls and audit support. Must have a dedicated home office space with reliable internet connectivity.
