Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Kuttin Wealth Management is a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC. The Senior Accountant role involves managing general ledger activities, supporting financial reporting, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The position also includes supporting merger and acquisition accounting, tax reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation.
Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management
- Prepare/Review journal entries
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
- Ensure proper account classifications
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Review/perform bank account, clearing account, payroll account reconciliations
- Support revenue accounting including division/advisor revenue allocations and payouts
- Support payroll, accounts payable, and expense processes
- Support the Controller in various merger and acquisition accounting and operations activities including loan tracking, future purchase obligations, etc
- Support the financial reporting process by preparing:
- Monthly financial statements
- Division P&Ls
- Forecasts and trend analysis inputs and supporting schedules
- Management reporting packages
- Partner with the Controller, CFO, and other business leaders to support financial reporting and strategic initiatives
- Support the CFO on various firm owner initiatives
- Assist with annual tax reporting, audits, regulatory filings, and coordination with external accounting and tax advisors
- Ensure accounting records comply with GAAP and internal financial reporting standards
- Identify opportunities to automate accounting workflows, improve controls, and reduce manual processing
- Support other finance and accounting related activities as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with ERP/Accounting systems platforms
- High integrity, attention to data accuracy, and committed to maintaining financial governance
- Strong expertise in Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with the use of AI tools in accounting and finance contexts
- Active CPA/CPA candidate
- Master's degree in accounting or related field
- Experience in financial services, wealth management, or RIA settings
- Advanced proficiency with AI in a business setting
