Remote Pharmacy Data Entry Technician - Long Term Care

Job Summary Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy is seeking a highly accurate and dependable Remote Pharmacy Data Entry Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will support our long-term care operations by entering and managing prescription orders for assisted living facilities. This is a non-dispensing remote pharmacy technician position focused primarily on prescription order entry, patient profile management, and long-term care workflow support. This position is ideal for a technician with LTC experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy, productivity, and compliance. Key Responsibilities • Accurately enter new prescriptions, refills, and order changes into pharmacy software systems • Process admissions, discharges, and medication profile updates for long-term care patients • Review orders for completeness, accuracy, and potential discrepancies • Communicate with nursing facility staff, prescribers, and internal pharmacy team • Assist with insurance billing, claim troubleshooting, and prior authorizations • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, North Carolina Board of Pharmacy regulations, and company policies • Escalate clinical or data concerns to the pharmacist promptly • Meet daily productivity and quality benchmarks in a high-volume environment Performance Expectations / KPIs Successful candidates will be expected to: • Maintain 98%+ prescription order entry accuracy • Process an average of 15–25 prescription orders per hour • Efficiently manage high-volume queues while maintaining attention to detail • Meet turnaround time expectations for new admissions, refills, and STAT orders • Maintain professionalism and responsiveness in communications with facility staff and internal teams • Demonstrate consistent attendance and reliability in a remote work environment Qualifications • Active North Carolina Pharmacy Technician Registration (required) • CPhT certification • Minimum 5 years pharmacy technician experience, preferably in long-term care[CH1] or other clinical/patient-facing settings such as med rec techs in hospital or outpatient offices • Experience with pharmacy systems such as QS/1 or similar platforms • Strong typing/data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting • Strong communication and problem-solving skills Technical Requirements • Reliable high-speed internet connection • HIPAA-compliant workspace (private, secure environment) • Ability to use VPN, remote desktop systems, and VoIP communication tools Work Environment • Fully remote position • May include evening, weekend, or rotating shifts to support pharmacy operations • Fast-paced long-term care pharmacy workflow with high daily order volume Compensation & Benefits • $19.00 – $26.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications • Opportunities for performance-based increases • Dental, vision, life insurance, and short-term disability • Simple IRA with up to a 3% employer match • Paid time off • Career growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding LTC pharmacy Preferred Experience • Long-term care pharmacy workflow (cycle fills, MAR familiarity) • High-volume order entry (100+ orders/day) • Experience supporting a team-based model with prescribers, nurses, patients, and caregivers in addition to pharmacists and other technicians • Previous remote pharmacy workflow experience preferred About Us Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy is dedicated to providing reliable, accurate, and timely pharmacy services to long-term care facilities across North Carolina.
