Our client, a groundbreaking game development studio, is seeking an exceptionally talented and visionary Lead 3D Environmental Artist to join their fully remote team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the visual landscape of our next AAA title, creating immersive and believable game worlds. As the Lead, you will guide a team of talented artists, setting the artistic direction and ensuring the highest quality standards for all environmental assets. You will be responsible for the creation of high-fidelity 3D environments, from initial concept and block-out to final polish, focusing on architectural details, natural landscapes, and atmospheric elements. Your expertise will extend to optimizing assets for performance across multiple platforms, ensuring a seamless and breathtaking player experience. This role requires a deep understanding of the entire 3D art pipeline, including modeling, texturing, lighting, and post-processing effects. You will collaborate closely with game designers, level designers, and art directors to bring the game's vision to life. A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create diverse and visually stunning environments, along with leadership experience, is essential. This position is a remote-first role, allowing you to contribute your creative talents from the comfort of your own workspace, anywhere in the US. We are looking for an artist who can inspire, mentor, and push the boundaries of environmental art in interactive entertainment. Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of 3D environmental artists. Define and maintain the visual style and quality bar for game environments. Create high-quality 3D models, textures, and materials for environmental assets. Develop and implement efficient art pipelines for environment creation. Collaborate with game and level designers to ensure environments support gameplay. Optimize environmental assets for performance across target platforms. Implement lighting and post-processing effects to enhance atmosphere and mood. Review and provide constructive feedback on team members' work. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in 3D art and game development. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Game Design, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of experience in 3D game art, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role. Extensive portfolio demonstrating exceptional environmental art skills. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and Unreal Engine/Unity. Strong understanding of architectural design, lighting, color theory, and composition. Experience with performance optimization techniques for real-time rendering. Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills. Proven ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
