The Engineering Manager will lead a global team, orchestrate tech initiatives, and drive product features while fostering a high-performance culture.
Responsibilities
- Command the Troops. Work with the globally distributed engineering squads, bridging time zones like a pro to deliver top-tier product features on time
- Drive the Roadmap. Translate ambitious goals into tangible sprint plans and tickets, ensuring everything from planning to release happens like clockwork
- Guard the Gates. Set the gold standard for code quality, security, and performance. Implement monitoring and incident response so issues get squashed before users even notice
- Spark Innovation. Keep your radar on for emerging tools and best practices, foster continuous learning, and create a safe space for bold ideas and rapid experimentation
- Align with Stakeholders. Keep leadership informed, manage resources like a wizard, and ensure engineering efforts always sync up with the overarching vision
- You’ll attract, nurture, and retain top-notch engineering talent, shaping the future superstar teams
- Prepare tickets, ensuring they are clear, complete, and stable (ready the week before the sprint begins)—with no need for changes and minimal need for clarification once the sprint begins
- You’ll maintain robust, scalable operations—staying two steps ahead of any hiccup and ensuring everything runs smoother than freshly ironed laundry
- You’ll foster an environment where new ideas are tested early and often, stay ahead of the curve and at the cutting edge of on-demand services
- You’ll build bridges between product, design, and other teams, creating a unified force that drives forward
Skills
- 10+ years of engineering management, including at least 3 years in a fast-moving startup
- A solid background in TypeScript, Node.js, and cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Firebase
- Understanding of UX and product roadmaps
- Ability to translate a PRD into crystal-clear, effective tickets
- Strong organizational skills to keep the entire team aligned and ready to execute
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in fast-paced, async environments
- Self-directed and thrive in ambiguity, with a focus on innovation and pushing boundaries
- Global Expansion Curiosity (Nice to Have) - Experience scaling products internationally or rolling out geo-based features
