Saint-Gaudens Memorial is one of the nation’s earliest historic preservation organizations, focusing on the home and works of sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. They are seeking a Communications & Operations Coordinator to lead digital presence, manage donor communications, and support board relations in a small nonprofit environment.
Responsibilities
- Leads SGM's day-to-day digital presence across social media, email, and web
- Develops and schedules content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn; manages email campaigns through ActiveCampaign; and prepares website updates for implementation by SGM's webmaster
- Writes blog posts and stories that draw on SGM's archival collections and program materials
- Attends select events at the Park to gather content firsthand, and coordinates with NPS staff to ensure complementary messaging
- Monitors and reports on performance metrics across all channels
- Serves as a key voice for SGM's donor-facing communications — drafting stewardship messages, year-end appeals, milestone recognitions, and special announcements in close coordination with the Executive Director
- Writes and distributes press releases for exhibitions, concerts, and organizational news
- Drafts external partner correspondence and public statements for Executive Director and trustee review
- Maintains SGM's press contact lists
- Coordinates all aspects of Board and Committee meetings, including scheduling, materials preparation, minutes, and follow-up
- Maintains professional relationships with trustees, past trustees, ex-officio members, and community liaisons, and supports the Executive Director in all governance-related communications
- Attends in-person Board meetings (June in Cornish, NH; January in New York City) and virtual meetings as scheduled
- Supports the annual trustee nominating process
- Coordinates with SGM's graphic designer on the production of program brochures, event invitations, impact reports, and donor materials — providing copy, context, and organizational direction
- Maintains organized digital files and shared drives
- Supervises interns and coordinates their work in support of SGM's communications goals
- Supports the Executive Director with special projects as needed
Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural organization
- A strong writer across formats — from social media copy and blog posts to donor correspondence and press materials
- Digitally fluent, with experience managing websites, email marketing platforms, and social media scheduling tools
- Organized and self-directed, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
- Collegial and discreet, comfortable working with board members, institutional partners, and the public
- Enthusiastic about the arts, history, and mission-driven work
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
- Experience with ActiveCampaign, Hootsuite, Asana, or comparable platforms
- Board relations or nonprofit administrative experience
- Residency in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire or Vermont, in proximity to SGNHP
