Overview
Edged Data Centers is seeking a highly experienced QA-QC Manager to lead quality assurance and quality control efforts across the construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover phases of mission-critical data center developments. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and life safety systems are installed and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The QA-QC Manager will serve as a critical liaison between internal stakeholders - including Development, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Strategic Sourcing, and Operations—and external partners, including general contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and equipment manufacturers. This role will establish and uphold best-in-class quality standards that support Edged’s commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and reliable facility performance.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Program Development
Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific MEP Quality Assurance / Quality Control plans, procedures, and inspection protocols.
Establish standardized quality documentation, inspection checklists, and acceptance criteria that can be replicated across Edged’s development portfolio.
Partner with Engineering and Construction teams to review design documents, specifications, and submittals to ensure constructability, quality alignment, and commissioning readiness.
Identify potential quality risks early in project development and implement mitigation strategies.
Construction Quality Oversight
Conduct regular field inspections and audits to verify installation quality and compliance with:
Issued-for-Construction (IFC) drawings
Basis of Design (BOD) documentation
Approved submittals and shop drawings
Manufacturer installation requirements
Applicable building codes, NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, and industry standards
Monitor contractor workmanship and installation sequencing to ensure quality execution throughout all phases of construction.
Lead the documentation, communication, and closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch-list items, and corrective action plans.
Maintain quality dashboards and reporting metrics for executive visibility.
MEP Systems Quality Management
Provide oversight and quality validation for critical systems including:
Mechanical cooling infrastructure, including Edged’s proprietary waterless cooling systems
Chilled water / condenser water systems, piping, pumps, and valves
HVAC equipment, airflow containment, and leak detection systems
Medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems
Switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, battery systems, generators, and grounding infrastructure
Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), SCADA, and controls integration
Fire alarm, fire suppression, domestic water, sanitary, and drainage systems
Testing, Startup & Commissioning Readiness
Partner closely with commissioning teams to verify systems are installed, tested, and prepared for startup in accordance with commissioning requirements.
Validate completion and documentation of:
Pressure testing and system flushing
Cable testing and megger testing
Relay settings verification
Controls point-to-point testing
Sequence of Operations validation
Integrated systems testing readiness
Support issue resolution and ensure timely closure of commissioning deficiencies.
Vendor & Contractor Management
Hold contractors, subcontractors, OEM vendors, and suppliers accountable to Edged quality standards and contractual obligations.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and equipment receiving inspections where applicable.
Review vendor quality plans, preservation procedures, and turnover documentation for long-lead critical equipment.
Conduct quality audits at supplier manufacturing locations.
Turnover & Operational Readiness
Ensure all systems are delivered with complete and accurate turnover documentation, including:
As-built drawings
Operations & Maintenance manuals
Warranty documentation
Training materials
Spare parts inventories
Preventative maintenance recommendations
Partner with Operations teams to ensure smooth transition from construction delivery to live operations.
Skills & Requirements
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
5+ years of progressive experience in MEP QA-QC, commissioning, construction quality management, or mission-critical infrastructure delivery.
Demonstrated experience supporting complex infrastructure projects such as data centers, hospitals, semiconductor facilities, power generation, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge of:
Mechanical and electrical systems commissioning
NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, ICC, and applicable code requirements
Quality management systems and documentation processes
Construction sequencing and contractor management
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, commissioning plans, and technical documentation.
Preferred
Mission-critical / hyperscale data center project experience strongly preferred.
Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, CxA, CCP, LEED, or OSHA 30.
Experience with Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM coordination tools, and digital commissioning platforms.
