Position
Position: Platform Engineer – Linux & Software Packaging
Location: Hybrid (Cluj) or Home Office, Romania
We’re looking for a Platform Engineer who enjoys building and delivering Linux‑based software that ships to customers. The focus is on how software is packaged, installed, upgraded, and maintained as part of a product used by customers in demanding enterprise environments.
You’ll work closely with development and QA teams on the NetProfiler and Flow Gateway product family, which process and analyze millions of network flow records per minute to provide real‑time visibility and anomaly detection for Fortune 500 companies worldwide.
What you will do
Own the packaging, installation, and upgrade lifecycle of Linux‑based software delivered to customers
Build, maintain, and evolve RPM packages (including spec files, dependencies, and signing)
Develop and maintain automation scripts in Bash and Python, and work with existing Perl code when needed
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot systems based on Red Hat–derived distributions (RHEL, CentOS, AlmaLinux, Rocky)
Maintain OS‑level configuration and packaging as code, ensuring repeatable and reliable deployments
Support CI workflows (Jenkins) as they relate to building, packaging, and validating deliverables
Troubleshoot issues found in the field and deliver fixes through proper packaging and release processes
Collaborate closely with Software Engineering and QA to ensure what we ship is installable, supportable, and production‑ready
Contribute to security hardening, patching strategies, and upgrade paths for customer environments
What makes you an ideal candidate
Hands‑on experience building and maintaining Linux software packages (RPM experience is strongly preferred)
Strong Linux fundamentals and comfort working at the OS level
Scripting experience in Bash and Python; ability to read and work with Perl code is a plus
Experience owning installation or deployment artifacts, not just running infrastructure
Familiarity with Jenkins and Git‑based workflows
Understanding of how software behaves in real customer environments, including upgrades and long‑term maintenance
Comfortable working with large, mature codebases where correctness and stability matter more than novelty
Nice to have (not required)
Experience with DEB packaging or other installer formats
Exposure to configuration management tools such as Ansible
Familiarity with Docker (for build or tooling support, not as a primary runtime)
Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, firewalls)
Experience in enterprise or product‑based software environments
