Position Overview
We are seeking a Low Voltage Motor Application Engineer with strong experience in industrial electric motor applications to support customer-facing technical solutions and product development efforts. This role is responsible for motor selection, application design, and technical support across a broad range of industries, with a focus on NEMA low voltage motors.
This position plays a key role in defining motor specifications for new product development and serves as a technical liaison between customers, sales, and internal engineering and manufacturing teams. The individual will also support WorldWide Electric's participation in industry organizations such as NEMA and contribute to NEMA statistical reporting.

This role offers the opportunity to directly influence both customer outcomes and product direction.
Key Responsibilities
1) Application Engineering
Size and select low voltage AC motors (ODP, TEFC, severe duty, inverter duty) based on load requirements and application conditions.
Analyze torque-speed characteristics, starting requirements, thermal limits, and service factors.
Apply NEMA MG-1 and IEC standards to ensure proper motor selection and compliance.
Provide guidance on VFD applications, including inverter duty considerations, insulation systems, and speed ranges.
2) Customer & Sales Support
Serve as the technical liaison for OEMs, distributors, and end users.
Review RFQs, specifications, and datasheets to develop compliant and competitive solutions.
Support the sales team with technical proposals, submittals, and product recommendations.

3) Product Expertise & Positioning
Provide subject matter expertise on:
General purpose and severe duty motors
IEEE 841 / API-style applications (where applicable)
Hazardous location motors (Class I Div 1/2, Zone-rated)
4) System Integration
Ensure compatibility with VFDs, soft starters, and driven equipment (pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors).
Address issues related to harmonics and insulation stress, bearing protection and shaft grounding, and ambient and environmental conditions
5) Cross-Functional Collaboration
Interface with manufacturing, sourcing, and product management to support custom or modified motor solutions.
Provide feedback on competitive positioning and product gaps based on field experience.
Assist with troubleshooting and failure analysis when required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in low voltage motor application engineering or technical sales support
Background working with or for manufacturers such as WEG, ABB, TECO, Nidec, Toshiba or Hyundai strongly preferred.
Experience supporting distribution channels or OEM accounts.
Technical Competencies
