Description Job Summary: Collaborates with university faculty and teacher candidates in the coordination of field experiences and clinical practice, ensuring that these experiences are consistent with the program's conceptual framework. Participates in the development of teacher candidates in elementary and secondary school settings. Ensures the observation, supervision, and evaluation of teacher candidate and teacher intern performance during field experiences and clinical practice. Assists in the planning and coordination of field experiences and clinical practice. Compensation is given as a stipend, contingent on and paid out upon completion of the academic term's commitments. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution • Highly recommended by the school administrator as a desirable mentor for the teacher candidate or intern • Three years of effective teaching experience • Full-time teacher at an HPU partner or participating school • Public or public charter school: licensed in the subject area and grade level he/she is teaching • Private school: educational degree and/or work experience in the area he/she is teaching Desired Qualifications: • Public or public charter school: tenured • Willing to invest the time needed to collaborate with university faculty and reflect with teacher candidates or interns. Other Qualifications: • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position. • This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation. • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy. Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions: • Complete orientation workshop prior to the start of student teaching. (10%) • Share successful teaching strategies and provide targeted feedback in classroom observations of the teacher candidate's/intern's performance. (10%) • Participate in the assessment decisions relating to teacher candidates/interns and submit clinical practice evaluations by the end of the term. (15%) • Use communication techniques such as reflection, clarification, and elaboration in working with the teacher candidates/interns. (10%) • Allow time for debriefing/reflection time with teacher candidate/intern to discuss observations/impressions of school/classes/offices visited within or outside of the school. (10%) • Share information and discuss with teacher candidates/interns different styles of teaching, classroom management, formative and summative assessment strategies, lesson and unit planning, and other teaching-learning processes important in effective teaching. (10%) • Demonstrate a caring attitude toward students and promote positive interpersonal relationships in the classroom and in the school community. (10%) • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and service in the teacher education program and to diversity in the academic setting. (10%) • Develop positive and effective working relationships with faculty and staff at all organizational levels; demonstrate integrity, credibility, and high standards of professional conduct. (10%) • Perform other related duties as assigned (5%): • Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments. • Assists with seasonal peaks.
