We are seeking an experienced writer/editor specializing in CVs and personal statements to support medical residency applications.
REQUIRED: Professional experience writing/editing graduate-level CVs and personal statements.
Key Dates & Commitment
• May: Paid training, 1-2 hours weekly
• June: Supervised writing/editing work, 10-20 hours weekly
• July 1 – Sept 23: Client-facing editing & document development (25+ hours weekly)
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with medical residency applicants, applying strong rhetorical judgment, organizational insight, and polished editing to refine high-stakes application materials.

• Writing & Editing Excellence: Elevate written materials through precise, polished editing while preserving the applicant’s authentic voice.

• Attention to Detail: Work within tight word counts while maintaining consistency, tone, and alignment with company standards and deadlines.
• AI Awareness & Responsibility: Use AI tools judiciously to support, not replace, original writing and editing. Writing submissions that rely heavily on AI-generated content will not be accepted.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience in medical writing and some familiarity with the residency application process (ERAS/NRMP) or similar graduate/professional common applications.
• Demonstrate a strong instinct for preserving an applicant’s voice while applying nuanced rhetorical judgment to strengthen their narrative.
• Bring a background in academic, technical, and narrative writing, with experience refining content under strict word or character limits.
• Be comfortable working within structured editing workflows and adhering to defined style guidelines.
• Collaborate effectively and learn through feedback with layered reviews (lead editor + physician consultant).
• Maintain a team-oriented, proactive approach, with the initiative to exceed expectations and contribute to a high-quality client experience.
Key Responsibilities
• CV Development: Strategically tailor and polish CVs.
• Personalized Storytelling: Collaborate with clients to refine their unique stories and develop impactful personal statements.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients and internal team members to refine and finalize application components.
• Additional Documents: Draft/edit , letters of interest, thank you letters, letters of intent, program-specific personal statement adaptations, etc.
Importance of the NRMP Match Application: The residency application process is a competitive, high-pressure cycle involving written submissions (MyERAS CV/common application, personal statements, LoRs), interviews, and two-way ranking. Each year, tens of thousands of applicants compete for a limited number of residency positions, making it essential to stand out among similarly qualified candidates. Strong written materials play a critical role in securing interviews, and your work helps ensure each application is refined, cohesive, and positioned for success.
