Position Responsibilities:
If you are someone who thrives at the intersection of AI systems, operations, team leadership, and execution, this role offers a rare opportunity to shape how an AI-first company scales. You'll lead a team responsible for building and maintaining the systems, automations, and infrastructure that power every internal department at The Uncommon Business (TUB). You build the organizational tools and automation that help TUB run effectively.
This role includes:
Leading the Build Team's (Technical Operations) day-to-day operations, including capacity planning, prioritization, scope reviews, and architectural decision-making
Managing and developing a team of builders (AI/Automation technical builders) across multiple skill levels through coaching, mentorship, performance management, and career growth planning
Establishing and maintaining the technical standards and quality expectations for all systems and automation work
Personally contributing to high-leverage technical builds while helping scale team capability and headcount
Owning vendor relationships across platforms such as Zoom, Twilio, SendBlue, Zapier, N8N, Supabase, Notion, Slack, Loom, Calendly, and future tooling, including evaluation, negotiation, contract renewals, and budget stewardship
Maintaining Build Team velocity standards and ensuring all requests move from submission to active project management quickly and effectively
Partnering closely with the Director of Operations to support technical decision-making, reporting, hiring initiatives, and cross-functional execution
Representing the Build Team in company-wide conversations and proactively surfacing recommendations, risks, and opportunities
Collaborating with peer leaders across Data, Project Management, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to deliver scalable solutions across the organization
Qualifications:
Deep hands-on experience building production AI systems and automations
Advanced experience with modern AI tools and platforms including Claude, Claude Code, N8N, Supabase, AI agents, automation frameworks, and related technologies
Strong understanding of systems architecture, workflow design, automation strategy, and operational scalability
Experience managing vendor relationships, software contracts, and SaaS budgets
Proven experience leading technical builders, operators, systems teams, or automation teams of four or more team members
Demonstrated experience owning capacity planning, prioritization, and operational execution within a high-growth environment
Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on when needed
Strong communication skills with the confidence to lead difficult conversations, negotiate effectively, and drive accountability
Ability to make decisions quickly in fast-moving environments with incomplete information
Experience working within entrepreneurial, founder-led, or high-accountability organizations preferred

Schedule Expectations:
Twice per year during launch seasons (approximately 10–12 weeks total annually), team members in launch-critical roles are expected to be available from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with additional time required for preparation, execution, event support, and post-launch activities.
Outside of launch seasons, the workload remains strategic and sustainable, focused on building the systems and infrastructure that support future growth and execution.
