Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MH Counselor) to join our clinical team. This is a small, boutique type psychotherapy group practice with a small group, close sense of connection, mutual support, collegiality, and supervision by a long-practicing psychologist
. Great experience for those hoping to start their own private or group practice in a few years. Immediate opportunities for compassionate and skilled LP’s to join and gain experience in individual mental health counseling, group counseling, assessment and diagnosis.
Seeking someone who would feel comfortable scaling up to 10 clients in approximately a two month period, with the option of adding additional time as well as becoming full time if referrals are available. All LP’s need at least one year of field placement practice, although two is preferred.
The practice is virtual/ fully remote and will treat adults only. Clinicians can work flexible hours during day, evenings, and weekends, although 1-2 evenings per week is expected.
All LP’s will receive supervision weekly and as needed, as well as other indirect hours such as during virtual team meetings and in-house trainings to help fulfill requirements. There will be paid training opportunities, and the practice will provide an annual stipend for each member to market and establish themselves online, and support/coaching for marketing will be provided as well.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, self-starter who feels comfortable having a social media presence and feel comfortable promoting themselves and seeking out clients on Psychology Today and similar online places, in conjunction with getting referrals from the practice. They will have a strong foundation in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral health, with experience working with a variety of mental health conditions. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient recovery and well-being through evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and group therapy.
All services are provided in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
The group practice provides person-centered, recovery-oriented virtual teletherapy services to a full range of DSM diagnoses, including depression and anxiety, ADHD, as well as spectrum disorders. The practice is expanding services for LGBTQ+ individuals, as well as geriatric and those with medical conditions. Pathways to Potential also focuses on whole-health, meaning a focus on how physical and mental health are interlinked, with a collaborative approach with client medical providers when possible.
There will be a special focus on teamwork and collaboration among counselors in the practice. There may also be opportunities to treat patients in person over time if that is an interest.
Supervision will be provided by a Licensed Psychologist with over 16 years experience supervising (psychology interns/externs, social work interns, and MH counseling field placements) within hospital outpatient settings, particularly dealing with complex populations. Supervision utilizes a lens of health psychology, solution-focused, integrative, and humanistic approaches.
Preference for those LPs who are bilingual
, have worked with special populations before (LGBTQ+, international students, geriatric) or
have or will have certification or good experience in a specialty within the next year
(CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, Health Psychology, Interpersonal, Motivational Interviewing, and so forth).

Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
• Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based modalities such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
• Provide individual, group, family, and crisis counseling tailored to clients’ needs.
• Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to foster client engagement and motivation for change.
• Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis management protocols and de-escalation strategies.
