Key Responsibilities
• Move servers and switches to required destination for installation.
• Inspect servers and switches to make sure that they are not damaged in any way.
• Smoke test servers to ensure that server is functioning as intended.
• Install servers and switches and cable it according to provided wire map.
• Make sure that all cables ran are bundled neatly.
• Double check with network admins to make sure everything is cabled correctly, and all connections are up.
• Install additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory).
• Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.
• Auditing of servers and consumables.
#2 L2 Technician2-5 Years' Experience Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose and troubleshoot server issues to identify and isolate root causes with help of remote network or sys admins.
• Coordinate procurement of replacement components, install the parts, and manage return shipment of defective hardware to the respective vendors.
• Perform server firmware upgrades to ensure systems are running on the latest approved versions.
• Configure server IP addresses and default access credentials in accordance with standard procedures.
• Collaborate with network administrators to resolve server-related issues, including cable replacement or re-routing, optics replacement on server and switch ports, and installation of upgraded hardware components.
• Temporarily rack, stack, and cable servers or switches to enable remote access by network administrators for configuration and validation activities.
• Provide hands-on support to network administrators for ad hoc requests involving servers or network switches.
• Perform cabling of the server/network device in accordance with approved wiring diagrams and coordinate with network administrators to validate connectivity and operational readiness.
• Conduct physical inspections as requested or audits of servers, components, and consumables to ensure equipment inventory accuracy.
• Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.
• Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.
• Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Reach out and assist network admins on any issues they are having with a server that can range from: replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers.
• Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on device.
• Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switch.
