You will be supporting the execution of client billable work and project assignments from the North America GIM team, part of the Firm’s Employment & Compensation ("E&C") practice, and assisting with the delivery of projects to various Baker McKenzie offices around the globe.
• Working with the North America GIM team;
• Discharging client assignments as defined by the GIM partners and associates, with a focus on assignments involving employment based immigration;
• Assisting with editing and maintenance of billable and complimentary knowledge management tools published by the E&C group;
• Conducting billable projects, working individually or within teams;
• Drafting and preparing employment-based and permanent residency filings (e.g. H-1B, L-1, I-140, Adjustment of Status Application, and PERM Petitions);
• Communicating with the instructing team, other internal Baker McKenzie teams and relevant third parties (where appropriate) throughout the duration of billable projects;
• Compiling appropriate documentation/forms/filings regarding client matters;
• Ensuring own compliance with Firm time recording requirements on projects
Skills and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required, Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program preferred
• Experience in U.S. Immigration law preferred, particularly experience at a law firm;
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands;
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and online research tools
• Ability to review, analyze and organize documentary and factual evidence
• Strong attention to detail
