Japanese-English Translator / Client Alignment Specialist
This role is for someone who is fluent in Japanese and English and can support high-stakes client communication across live calls, written materials, and project alignment discussions. You should be able to translate accurately, clarify nuance respectfully, and help ensure that both the Quire team and the client fully understand the intended meaning, deliverable expectations, format requirements, and decision context.
This role will support a confidential client engagement for a major global entertainment and technology company with businesses across film, television, OTT, games, and interactive media. The project is a focused first-phase technology market study on how AI is reshaping content creation, production workflows, AI-native studio models, narrative systems, franchise management, and game-connected or transmedia worlds.
You will help Quire reduce language friction during the project by supporting select client calls, scoping conversations, interim check-ins, and final readout discussions. This may include live interpretation, clarifying follow-up questions, translation of key client feedback, and short written summaries of what the client appears to mean or expect.
This is not a general administrative role. The work requires someone with excellent Japanese-English communication skills, strong professional judgment, cultural fluency, and enough business context to understand consulting, research, technology, media, or executive-client discussions.
Quire will pay a premium rate for an individual who works autonomously, responds rapidly, understands urgency, and demonstrates strong judgment in translation, interpretation, confidentiality, and client-facing communication.
Key Responsibilities:
● Provide Japanese-English interpretation support during select live client calls, project check-ins, scoping discussions, and final presentation/readout meetings.
● Help clarify client comments, questions, feedback, and implied expectations in real time when meaning, tone, or deliverable requirements may be unclear.
● Support Quire in confirming the client's expectations around research depth, ecosystem overview format, page structure, interview outputs, deliverable layout, and final work product.
● Translate or summarize short written materials, call notes, client comments, and follow-up items when needed.
● Help the Quire team understand cultural or business-context nuance that may affect how the client is responding, agreeing, disagreeing, or asking for revisions.
● Assist with respectful clarification questions so the team can confirm what the client actually wants before major research or production work is completed.
● Maintain strict confidentiality across all client information, research materials, project discussions, and deliverables.
● Operate quickly and professionally across Pacific Time, Eastern Time, and Japan Standard Time scheduling needs when live calls or rapid follow-ups are required.
Qualifications:
● Fluent or native-level Japanese and English communication skills, including professional spoken interpretation and written translation capability.
● Three or more years of experience in translation, interpretation, client communication, business support, consulting support, media/technology support, or related professional work.
● Experience supporting business, consulting, corporate, legal, financial, technology, media, entertainment, or executive-facing conversations strongly preferred.
● Ability to interpret meaning, nuance, tone, and implied expectations rather than translating only word-for-word.
● Strong comfort joining live calls and helping clarify details respectfully without disrupting the client relationship.
● Ability to summarize key discussion points, unresolved questions, and client preferences in clear English after calls.
● Comfort with ambiguous, fast-moving, high-stakes project discussions involving research, technology, AI, entertainment, gaming, or strategic deliverables.
● Excellent judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
● Operates with urgency and sound judgment, able to work autonomously.
COMPENSATION (CONTRACT)
Compensation for this role is expected to be approximately $45-50 per hour, based on experience. This is a remote 1099 contractor role expected to average approximately 10 hours per week when activated during the project period, depending on client call timing, scoping needs, check-in cadence, and final presentation / readout requirements.
This person is expected to be active during the initial scope alignment period, select live client check-ins, rapid clarification windows following calls, and the final delivery presentation / readout. The role may require availability across Pacific Time (PT) and Eastern Time (ET), depending on the client meeting schedule. You will be working as a contractor, not an employee. The work is highly complex, fast-paced, and requires the utmost skill and professionalism. This position is remote, with no travel required.
