Get ready to rock your interview after we reach out to you to schedule a time slot About the businessWant to be on the ground-floor of a company whose goal is to be the market leader for home services in the local 55+ active living retirement communities and franchise the concept to other territories with similar 55+ communities? Home Detail Services LLC concentrates on serving the Sacramento area 55+ active living retirement communities by doing ladder-related home maintenance such as gutter cleaning, window cleaning, solar panel cleaning, and Christmas light hanging & removal. We are hiring a GIS Intern who will have the freedom to develop a project focused on solving Home Detail Services LLC's GIS-related business needs such as targeting new communities, targeting homes in communities we serve that meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters), aggregating a list of addresses that meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters), and identifying territories to expand to. Below are examples of GIS-related business needs that the GIS Intern can use as a starting point for their project: • Targeting new communities • Identify new communities within the greater Sacramento area to expand the business to (eg- diversify outside of 55+ active living retirement communities into gated communities, retirement homes, commercial, streets/areas with a lot of Christmas lights, new home developments made in 2020 or later that all have with solar panels, etc) • End: Create a list of the top 10 communities for the business to expand to within the greater Sacramento area • Targeting homes in Sacramento area 55+ active living retirement communities that meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters) • Identify homes in Sacramento area 55+ active living retirement communities that meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters) • End: Create a map of homes in the Sacramento area 55+ active living retirement communities that meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters) • Aggregating a list of addresses that meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters) • Query a list of addresses of homes in certain communities (ie- the 55+ active living retirement communities in the greater Sacramento area) which meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters) • End: Create a list of addresses of homes in 55+ active living retirement communities (or other communities) that meet certain criteria (ie- has solar panels or a tree near the gutters) • Territory identification • Identify areas outside the greater Sacramento area to expand the business to (ie- 55+ active living retirement communities in Florida + Arizona) • End: Create a list of the top 10 potential future territories for the business to expand to outside of the greater Sacramento area • Identify longitudes x latitudes for bandit signs near Churches, Elementary/middle schools, Hospitals, Doctors offices, Dentists offices • Triangulate ArcGIS layers (ie- income, age, home value, etc) to create a heat map to identify areas that are prime for us to target What is in it for you • Remote internship position • Flexible hours that will accommodate your other commitments • Be awarded academic credit through an internship for credit course • Get professional GIS-related working experience • Intern for a business that has opportunity for advancement • Have autonomy but support from your supervisor to progress on your project • Be challenged to hone your skills and learn new ones • Receive a reference and a letter of recommendation upon request Details about the opportunity • Internships run during the Fall quarter from September 15-December 12, Winter quarter from January 12-March 14, Spring quarter from March 28-June 2, and Summer from June 20-September 8. • Ideal candidate for this unpaid internship would be someone who could grow into a paid role with more responsibilities. • Intern must be: • Enrolled as a student • Enrolled in an internship course for academic credit (entry into an internship course for academic credit must be verifiable) • All work will be done remotely • Communications will be made via Zoom, email, call or text • Minimum time required for GIS Internship: 40 hours total over the academic quarter/semester • Internship Supervisor: Chris Anderson • Contact Chris Anderson at (916) 380-8333 or [email protected] Learning Outcomes: • Get professional working experience • Gain GIS experience • Get experience with tools like ArcGIS and Google Sheets Career Competencies: • Critical Thinking/Problem Solving: Exercise sound reasoning to analyze issues, make decisions, and overcome problems.
