About the Role
The Staff Data Engineer will play a critical role in scaling DoorDash's data infrastructure, automation, and tools to meet the company's growing business needs. As a technical expert, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and external partners, to design, develop, and implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for DoorDash's Data Lake and Data Warehouse. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop solutions that meet business needs
- Work with engineering, product, and external partners to gather required data and design, develop, and implement data models and pipelines
- Build and maintain large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data pipelines and architectures for DoorDash's Data Lake and Data Warehouse
- Develop and implement reusable frameworks that improve the reliability and flexibility of DoorDash's ETLs
- Manage a portfolio of data products that deliver high-quality, reliable data to stakeholders across the organization
- Mentor and coach colleagues to improve their design and implementation skills
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience working with programming languages like Python/Java
- 3+ years of experience with ETL tools and workflow management tools like Airflow, Flink, Oozie, and Azkaban using AWS/GCP
- Expertise in database fundamentals, SQL, and distributed computing
- 3+ years of experience working with distributed data ecosystems (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Druid, Voila) and streaming technologies like Kafka/Flink
- Experience working with Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL, and other DBMS platforms
- Knowledge of reporting tools like Tableau, Superset, and Looker
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated, and self-organizing
- Capacity to think strategically, analyze, and interpret market and customer data
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms and technologies
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices
