This apprenticeship program provides an entry point to a career in healthcare by guiding you in taking steps towards becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) licensed Pharmacy Technician and supporting you in maintaining the high level of skill required in the pharmacy care industry. **Key Responsibilities** * Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the exercise of pharmacy, according to national and federal regulations * Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information and process prescriptions * If PTCB licensed, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers * Model and provide a unique and delightful customer experience * Engage customers and patients by greeting them and providing assistance with services and products * Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a superior customer experience * Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers * Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, personnel Pharmacist, and Store Supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug records, filling prescriptions, and verifying medication accuracy * Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow * Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the quality improvement program * Adhere to the arenaflex Co. Policy regarding accurate dispensing throughout all applicable prescription dispensing activities **Operations** * Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle coins as required * Take customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in finding merchandise * Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians * Method (correct and resubmit) claims for third-party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager * Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs * Maintain knowledge of company asset safety procedures and document claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed but not obtained), order errors or broken goods related to Rx capsules **Education & Personal Development** * Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the arenaflex Pharmacy Technician training program and/or state required certification/registration * Attend training and complete PPLs as requested by the manager and acquire continuing education credit * Maintain expertise and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest information and developments * Through completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, experience qualifies for 8 (8) college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE) **Basic Qualifications** * Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico) **Preferred Qualifications** * Choose six months of experience in a retail environment * Choose to have previous work experience with arenaflex * Decide on desirable math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications * Decide on correct computer skills * Decide on knowledge of store inventory management * Prefer PTCB certification **About Working at arenaflex** arenaflex is a company that values its employees and provides a range of benefits to support their well-being and career growth.
