Our focus areas include customers, stores, employees, in-store services, supplier equipment, supplier data science, and search and personalization. **Job Responsibilities** As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leading data science initiatives, mentoring junior colleagues, and implementing best practices across the team. Your key responsibilities will include: * **Data Source Identification**: Identify relevant data sources, define data requirements, and perform preliminary data quality checks. * **Problem Formulation**: Analyze business problems, identify root causes, and recommend solutions. Set data analytics, big data analytics, and automation goals, and outline key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness. * **Analytical Modeling**: Select suitable modeling strategies for complex problems with multiple structured and unstructured data sets. Develop variables and features iteratively based on model responses, conduct exploratory data analysis, and identify dimensions and designs of experiments. * **Model Deployment & Scaling**: Work with MLOps to deploy ML models to production, continuously log and track model behavior, and identify model parameters that require adjustments. * **Code Development & Testing**: Write code to develop the specified solution and application capabilities, create test cases to validate the proposed solution design, and contribute code documentation. * **Applied Business Acumen**: Evaluate proposed business cases, influence business stakeholder decision-making, and translate business requirements into strategies, projects, and initiatives. * **Model Assessment & Validation**: Identify and review model assessment metrics, apply appropriate strategies for model testing and tuning, and ensure testing records are documented and maintained. * **Data Visualization and Storyteller**: Identify and recommend visualization tools, generate graphical representations of data and model outcomes, and build compelling stories to combine multiple data points into cohesive insights. **What You'll Bring** * Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field. * Deep knowledge and experience in machine learning, statistics, and data science. * Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or R. * Ability to execute projects end-to-end, including junior colleagues. * Implementation of best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, and other areas. * Clear communication with business, product, and application partners. * Ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations into simple language. * Ability to present to management and external clients. **What We Offer** * Multiple health plan options, including vision and dental plans for you and dependents. * Financial benefits, including 401(k), stock purchase plans, life insurance, and more. * Associate discounts in-store and online. * Education assistance for associates and dependents. * Parental leave. * Pay during military service. * Paid Time Off, including vacation, sick, parental leave. * Short-term and long-term disability for when you cannot work due to injury, illness, or childbirth. **Why Join arenaflex?** At arenaflex, we believe in empowering our associates to shape the future of retail technology and data science.
