Our Opportunity: Software Engineer III in Supply Chain Technology
We're on the hunt for a talented Software Engineer III to join our Supply Chain technology team, based in Bellevue, WA, Minneapolis, MN, or Boston, MA, with the flexibility to work remotely. As a key player in our team, you'll be at the forefront of some of Chewy's most critical Supply Chain initiatives, focusing on streamlining our cartonization strategy and developing an in-house Cartonization solution. If you're an expert in cloud-based data solutions, particularly within the AWS ecosystem, and are passionate about data-driven decision-making, we want you to join us.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide team members and actively participate in the definition, design, development, testing, and implementation of software functionality using agile methodologies.
- Communicate project status, risks, and solutions effectively to both technical and business teams, acting as a technical point of contact to influence collaborators on trade-offs.
- Ensure that technical solutions adhere to best practices, are reliable, maintainable, and scalable under sustained load.
- Design, develop, and maintain Tier 1 systems for cartonization using AWS services, ensuring high complexity components and/or systems are built with precision.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices in software engineering, with rigorous peer review.
- Collaborate with DevOps to design and manage cloud infrastructure, focusing on scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Advocate for and implement software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement best practices for data security and compliance, ensuring all data handling meets Chewy's security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineering teams to develop robust solutions that meet business objectives.
- Continuously monitor and improve the performance of data solutions, identifying bottlenecks and optimizing data processing speeds.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a similar field; or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in cloud-based data solutions.
- Extensive experience with AWS data services, including EC2, Lambda, and S3.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java, with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical collaborators.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading technical teams in the development and delivery of projects.
- Background in Supply Chain and/or exposure to Operational Research.
- Experience in building scalable and high-availability systems from scratch.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $134,500.00 - $215,000.00 for this role, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
