Drafting CAD Agency Needed – Multi-unit Building Drawings, fire assets & labelling

We are a fire safety consultancy based in Sydney, Australia, seeking an experienced drafting agency or small CAD team to prepare building plan drawings for Class 2 multi-unit residential and mixed-use buildings across NSW, Australia. This is not a one-off task. We currently have work for 25+ buildings, and this workload is expected to continue growing. We are looking for a reliable small agency or established drafting team with existing drafting staff, internal management, and quality control who can take on regular work and deliver drawings quickly and accurately. The work involves preparing floor plan drawings, labelling them, and then adding fire-rated construction elements, passive fire assets, asset symbols, location labels, service penetration zones, and other relevant fire safety information. Drawings will be prepared from supplied architectural drawings, strata plans, site inspection notes, markups, and written instructions from our Australian team. We prefer drafters who use Vectorworks or AutoCAD, however we are open to other CAD software provided the final deliverables can be issued in DWG and PDF format. We have already completed several of these drawings internally, and our process, system, templates, and examples are established. We are looking for a team that can replicate our existing approach for new buildings with a quick turnaround and minimal revisions. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare drawings for Class 2, and mixed-use buildings across NSW, Australia - Work from supplied architectural drawings, strata plans, fire safety schedules, site inspection notes, PDFs, markups, and written instructions - Add location labels using our established labelling system - Add fire-rated construction elements, fire safety assets, and asset symbols using our established system and instructions - Apply consistent layers, lineweights, blocks, symbols, annotations, and drawing standards - Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet agreed issue dates - Revise drawings based on feedback - Deliver final drawings in DWG and PDF format Skills & Experience Required: - Established drafting agency or small CAD team, not a solo freelancer - Minimum 3–5 drafting staff available - Dedicated project manager or team lead for communication and quality control - Proficiency in Vectorworks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software - Ability to deliver final files in DWG and PDF format - Strong architectural drafting experience - Ability to interpret architectural drawings, services drawings, strata plans, fire safety schedules, and site notes - Good written English communication - Internal quality control before drawings are sent to us - Ability to handle ongoing weekly workload - Fast turnaround and reliable deadlines Experience With Any of the Following Is Highly Valued: - Australian building documentation - NSW fire safety documentation - Knowledge of AS 1851 requirements Important Requirements: Please only apply if you are an established team or agency with available drafting capacity. We are not looking for a single drafter unless you already manage a small drafting team. You must be able to assign work internally, check drawings before delivery, manage deadlines, communicate clearly, and scale up if required. Trial Task: We will shortlist several agencies and provide a paid trial task using a real sample plan. Examples will be provided of plans we have prepared. The trial will test your ability to: - understand instructions - interpret architectural and strata plans - prepare clean compartment drawings - mark up fire-rated elements and service penetration zones with instruction - label locations clearly - follow markups and drawing standards - communicate clearly - meet agreed deadlines Ongoing Work: For the right agency, this can become a long-term working relationship with regular weekly drafting work. We are open to hourly pricing, fixed-price packages, or a dedicated weekly/monthly team allocation. However, our preference is a fixed fee and agreed timeframe per job, with pricing adjusted based on building size and complexity.
