Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Global Compliance to lead and oversee export and trade compliance programs across a global organization. This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. and international regulations, developing robust compliance strategies, and partnering with cross-functional and international teams to support business operations in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and direct company-wide export and trade compliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations
Obtain, maintain, and monitor U.S. government export/import licenses, agreements, and authorizations under relevant regulatory frameworks and platforms (e.g., EAR/SNAP-R, ITAR/DECCS, and similar).
Draft and file ITAR Technical Assistance Agreements, Manufacturing Licensing Agreements, and foreign launch Technology Transfer Control Plans, and domestic Technology Control Plans
Serve as the organization’s designated Empowered Official for regulatory filings, registrations, and government applications
Act as a subject matter expert in export compliance across multiple business units and global operations
Collaborate closely with government agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all applicable export and trade requirements
Develop and execute comprehensive export compliance strategies aligned with U.S. and international regulatory standards
Design and implement trade compliance policies and procedures across cross-functional departments
Classify commodities, hardware, and technical data under applicable export control regulations (e.g., ECCN classifications)
Partner with engineering, production, and operations teams to determine jurisdiction and classification of products and technologies
Manage international shipments and logistics processes to ensure compliance with export control and trade regulations
Review contracts and related documentation to assess export control requirements and licensing needs
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners to maintain ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements
Implement export control protocols and procedures for foreign visitors to AST facilities
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Engineering, Legal Studies, or related field preferred)
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in export compliance, global trade compliance, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience serving as an ITAR Empowered Official or similar regulatory authority role
Strong knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including EAR and ITAR
Experience supporting international operations and global compliance programs
Familiarity with licensing processes, compliance audits, and regulatory reporting
Experience working in a highly regulated or technical industry

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy of compliance documentation and reporting

Export licensing and monitoring platforms – BIS SNAP-R; DOS DECCS; DTSA systems
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP or similar)
