Our client, a renowned innovator in the beauty and wellness industry located in Baltimore, Maryland, US , is seeking a talented and creative Cosmetic Chemist to join their product development team. Responsibilities: Develop and formulate innovative cosmetic and personal care products, including skincare, haircare, and color cosmetics, from concept to commercialization. Conduct extensive research on raw materials, ingredients, and emerging cosmetic technologies to identify new product opportunities. Perform benchtop formulations, pilot batches, and scale-up studies, optimizing formulas for performance, stability, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct rigorous stability, safety, and efficacy testing according to industry standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate closely with the marketing, R&D, and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment with brand vision and product goals. Troubleshoot formulation challenges and provide technical support throughout the product development lifecycle. Prepare technical documentation, including ingredient specifications, manufacturing procedures, and marketing claims support. Stay current with industry trends, consumer preferences, and regulatory changes impacting the cosmetic market. Maintain a well-organized laboratory environment and ensure compliance with all safety protocols. Present findings and product concepts to cross-functional teams and senior management. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation and product development. Deep understanding of cosmetic ingredients, their functions, and interactions. Proficiency in formulation techniques and analytical testing methods relevant to the cosmetic industry. Knowledge of FDA regulations and industry guidelines (e.g., INCI) for cosmetic products. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to articulate complex scientific concepts clearly. Experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Creative mindset and passion for the beauty industry.
