About the Role
We are seeking a part-time, remote Film Review Writer to join our team. In this role, you’ll watch and analyze films—primarily documentaries—and write thoughtful, in-depth reviews. Beyond traditional critique, our reviews emphasize the educational and institutional relevance of each title, helping our audience understand how a film can be used in classrooms, libraries, or community screening spaces.
Responsibilities
• Watch and critically evaluate assigned films
• Write clear, engaging, and well-structured reviews (typically 300–500 words)
• Offer contextual insight into how the film can be used by educators, librarians, or programming staff
• Meet regular deadlines and work independently
Qualifications
• Demonstrated skill in film analysis, critique, and review writing
• Strong knowledge of film history, genres, and current industry trends
• Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail
• Background or interest in journalism, film studies, education, or library science a must.
• Passion for cinema, especially independent and documentary film
• Familiarity with Trello or other task management tools is a plus
Compensation
We pay $30 per article to start with the opportunity to earn up to $45.
