Contract Counselor

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Contract Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive counseling services to diverse populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and trauma histories. Responsibilities • Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems to determine client needs and treatment plans. • Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis. • Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management techniques to ensure client safety during emergencies. • Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating patient care principles, social work practices, and medical terminology to support recovery goals. • Document all clinical interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care. • Engage in clinical research activities when applicable, contributing to data collection efforts that enhance treatment outcomes and service quality. Requirements • Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, counseling, or related mental health field from an accredited institution. • Valid licensure or certification as a licensed clinical counselor, therapist, or social worker in accordance with state regulations. • Proven experience working with children, adolescents, adults with disabilities, geriatrics or in inpatient/outpatient settings. • Strong knowledge of behavioral health interventions including trauma-informed care for PTSD patients and addiction counseling techniques. • Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical documentation standards. • Experience with telehealth platforms and delivering services remotely is highly desirable. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage clients through motivational interviewing and culturally sensitive approaches. • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively while demonstrating empathy and professionalism under pressure.
