Job purpose
The Oxford International Digital Institute (OIDI) delivers university partnership programmes designed to support student progression to undergraduate and postgraduate study at UK universities. All programmes are informed by task-based learning, communities of practice, and contemporary digital pedagogies to foster active, collaborative, and inclusive learning environments.
OIDI currently offers a range of Level 3, Level 4 and Level 6 programmes, including the Level 3 Online International Foundation Programmes (OIFP) in Business, and Computer Science; a Level 4 International Year One programme (IY1 in Business and Computer Science); and the Level 6 Online Pre-Master’s in business & management and computer science. Programmes are delivered fully online via Moodle, supported by digital tools such as MS Teams, H5P and live synchronous teaching delivered through Zoom Successful students’ progress to undergraduate or postgraduate study at partner UK universities.
The post holder will contribute to the design, delivery, assessment and enhancement of modules within their subject specialism. In line with standard academic practice, tutors will be expected to prepare and deliver teaching sessions, develop learning resources, assess student work, provide timely and developmental feedback, and support student engagement and progression.
Teaching and academic responsibilities include:
Delivery of scheduled live online teaching sessions
Facilitation of asynchronous learning activities within Moodle
Assessment, marking and feedback in accordance with academic regulations and assessment criteria
Development and enhancement of module learning materials and teaching resources
Academic guidance and pastoral-style support appropriate to online provision
For established programmes, core learning materials and activities are in place. However, for newly developed programmes, including the Level 4 International Year One, tutors will be expected to design and produce module-specific teaching materials, learning activities and assessment support resources in alignment with programme specifications and quality standards.
Tutors may also undertake the role of Module Lead for a small number of modules. This includes coordination of assessment cycles, contribution to quality assurance and moderation processes, oversight of learning materials, and ongoing module evaluation and enhancement.
In addition, OIDI works in partnership with a network of global delivery hubs operating under franchise arrangements. To support consistency of academic standards and quality during initial programme delivery, tutors will be expected to act as OIDI Buddies — providing academic mentoring and subject-specific support to partner-centre tutors delivering the same modules. This includes sharing best practice, offering guidance on teaching approaches and assessment expectations, and supporting successful programme implementation.
The successful candidate will be an experienced subject specialist, ideally with experience in online and blended learning environments, and will demonstrate a reflective, scholarly approach to teaching, a commitment to student-centred learning, and enthusiasm for digital innovation in higher education.
Working hours
The post is fixed-term (12 months) full-time (40 hours per week). Due to the international nature of OIDI programmes and delivery across multiple time zones, flexibility in working patterns is required. Teaching may be scheduled during early morning hours (from 08:00 UK time) to accommodate students based in overseas regions.
Appropriate breaks, including a lunch period, will be taken within the working day. However, post holders are expected to remain available during core working hours to support academic delivery, student needs and operational continuity, including provision of emergency teaching cover where required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching/Module Leadership
Deliver academic subject modules to international students from a wide range of linguistic, educational and cultural backgrounds.
Undertake the role of Module Lead for designated modules (with a corresponding reduction in teaching hours), taking responsibility for coordination of assessment processes and contributing to module quality enhancement.
Foster an inclusive learning environment that is sensitive to cultural diversity while encouraging critical thinking, independent learning and academic enquiry.
Provide academic guidance and student support through tutorials, consultations and additional support where appropriate.
Create and sustain a positive, engaging and supportive learning environment within both live online sessions and asynchronous learning spaces.
Design, administer, mark and moderate formative and summative assessments in line with programme regulations and assessment criteria.
Provide timely, constructive written and oral feedback to students and relevant stakeholders, including Programme Leads.
Undertake administrative and quality assurance tasks related to teaching and assessment, including maintaining accurate attendance records, monitoring student progress, and supporting assessment delivery (e.g. invigilation).
Mentoring, buddying and supporting overseas staff.
Materials Development
Under the direction of the Programme Lead, design and develop high-quality learning resources using digital tools such as MS Office, MS Teams and other appropriate educational technologies.
Produce teaching and learning materials appropriate to international student cohorts and contribute to shared resource repositories.
Design and develop assessments, marking criteria and assessment support materials aligned with learning outcomes and academic standards.
Populate and maintain the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) with relevant learning content, activities and assessment resources.
General and Professional Responsibilities
Attend and actively engage in continuing professional development (CPD) activities, training sessions, programme reviews and standardisation meetings as required.
Maintain availability during agreed working hours, including outside scheduled teaching sessions, to support academic operations and enable emergency teaching cover where necessary.
Work collaboratively with academic colleagues across subject areas, contributing to team teaching approaches, shared curriculum development and peer support, in order to ensure consistency of delivery and avoid isolated or siloed teaching practice.
Participate in collaborative planning, moderation and resource-sharing activities to support high-quality, standardised programme delivery across OIDI provision and partner centres.
Act as a positive ambassador for OIDI programmes in all interactions with students, colleagues and external partners.

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Computing subject
A relevant postgraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification
A teaching qualification (or working towards one)
Evidence of commitment to professional development
A Mathematics qualification (which may be a listed module in the degree e.g. Maths for Computing)
Experience and knowledge
Teaching experience at A Level, International Foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate level
Experience of teaching international students
Experience of online learning and teaching and/or digital course development
Recent experience of teaching international students aged 17+ within a UK Further or Higher Education context
Experience of online delivery in higher education
Experience of Module Leadership (or similar)
Personal qualities
Empathy with international students and an understanding of their needs
Empathy with international staff and understanding of differences in education across borders
Flexibility & adaptability
Excellent communication skills, oral & written
Commitment to the development of OIDI programmes
