CDI Second Level Reviewer
• Day to Day Expectations/Responsibilities:
• Perform retrospective CDI reviews focused on DRG validation.
• Review accounts identified by coding and assigned through a work queue (WQ) by the CDI Manager.
• Validate DRGs and ensure documentation supports accurate coding and compliance.
• Compose, send, and follow up on physician queries using existing templates, with responsibility to edit queries for compliance.
• Always adhere to AHIMA/ACDIS compliant query guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership to ensure accurate reporting of project outcomes.
• Meet productivity expectations (anticipated 8–10 DRG validations per day, subject to adjustment as the project matures).
• Certification:
• An active
CDI
certification required.
• Nursing License:
Active - BSN
• Compact RN License
required.
• Experience:
• Must have 3-5 years of CDI experience, and a minimum of 1-2 years of SLR experience
• Strong clinical validation denial review and appeal support experience
• Hands on involvement with Vizient metrics and outlier case analysis
• Experience reviewing mortality cases with a solid understanding of SOI/ROM and expected mortality
• Prior CDI contract experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in large healthcare facilities, bedside and as a CDI (
500+ beds

Level 1 Trauma/Teaching Hospital
,
ICU exposure
).
• Proven ability to quickly adapt to new workflows and hit the ground running.
• Strong knowledge of

Retrospective CDI Specialist
to join a Vizient improvement project. This contract-only role requires a clinical professional with strong CDI knowledge, proven query compliance expertise, and the ability to work independently in a high-volume environment.

Compensation: $45-55 hourly
Work schedule: Monday - Friday; Day time hours
