Are you a strategic procurement professional with a passion for supplier partnerships, sourcing excellence, and driving business value? We are seeking a Direct Category Buyer – Resins & Polymers to manage a critical portfolio across North America while supporting category strategies that enhance cost competitiveness, supply continuity, supplier performance, sustainability, and operational excellence.
This role is ideal for a commercially minded procurement professional who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, negotiating strategic agreements, analyzing market trends, and delivering measurable value within a global manufacturing organization.
What You'll Do
Lead Strategic Sourcing Initiatives
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned Resins & Polymers categories aligned with business objectives
Lead competitive sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and contract management activities
Drive commercial optimization initiatives that improve cost competitiveness and supply assurance
Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance, and working capital improvements
Manage Supplier Performance & Relationships
Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships across North America
Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, service, innovation, sustainability, and commercial metrics
Support supplier development initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Drive supplier consolidation and strategic partnership opportunities where appropriate
Analyze Markets & Mitigate Risk
Monitor raw material markets, supply trends, industry developments, and capacity constraints
Assess and mitigate supply chain risks impacting assigned categories
Support business continuity planning and supply assurance initiatives
Utilize market intelligence to inform sourcing decisions and category strategies
Collaborate Across the Organization
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Technical, Quality, Product Stewardship, Finance, and Business Leaders
Work closely with the global procurement organization to leverage best practices and scale opportunities
Support cross-functional projects focused on business growth, operational efficiency, and procurement excellence
Influence stakeholders and build alignment in a matrixed international environment
Drive Procurement Excellence
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, delegation of authority requirements, and governance standards
Support contract lifecycle management, including contract visibility, compliance, and renewal tracking
Analyze spend data, supplier performance metrics, and procurement KPIs
Contribute to procurement digitization initiatives, process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
Support sustainability, ESG, responsible sourcing, and KAITEKI objectives through supplier engagement
What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Chemistry, STEM, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or supply chain experience
Experience leading supplier negotiations, sourcing events, and contract management activities
Experience supporting direct materials categories preferred
Background within chemicals, polymers, resins, advanced materials, manufacturing, automotive, or industrial industries preferred
Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills
Ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional and multicultural teams
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities
Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and results orientation
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, CPSM, CSCP, CPM, or equivalent professional certification
Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
Familiarity with:Spend analytics platforms
eSourcing and eAuction tools
Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems
Supplier performance and ESG platforms
Procurement analytics and reporting tools
Experience with supplier risk management, sustainability initiatives, and procurement digitalization programs

The salary range for this position is $87,800 - $109,800 USD Annual. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
