Role: CAD Drafter/Designer (Senior Level)

Compensation: Competitive Basic Salary

Position Overview

The Senior Drafter/Designer provides advanced technical leadership in the development, coordination, and execution of drafting and design deliverables for underground and surface mining projects. This position plays a key role in supporting engineering, construction, procurement, and field operations through the preparation of complex technical drawings and design solutions.

The Senior Drafter/Designer is responsible for independently managing drafting activities, coordinating multidisciplinary design requirements, and providing technical guidance to project teams and any junior drafting personnel. This role contributes significant practical and operational knowledge to project planning, constructability reviews, procurement support, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, coordination, and review of complex technical drawings and design packages for mining and infrastructure projects.
• Develop detailed layouts, plans, sections, equipment arrangements, and construction drawings for underground and surface operations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary drafting activities with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams.
• Ensure all drawings and design deliverables comply with project specifications, company standards, client requirements, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct advanced field verification, site assessments, and constructability reviews to support project planning and execution.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, drafting discrepancies, and technical coordination issues.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality review support to junior and intermediate drafting personnel.
• Support proposal development, project planning, scheduling, and procurement activities through technical drafting expertise.
• Assist with equipment selection, material coordination, and vendor drawing reviews.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of drafting standards, workflows, templates, and quality control procedures.
• Participate in project meetings, client discussions, design reviews, and site coordination activities.
• Support project managers and engineering teams in tracking deliverables, priorities, and project progress.
• Promote and actively support compliance with company HSEE policies and safe work practices.
• Other duties as required to meet project and/or business needs.



Qualifications

• Minimum of 5–10 years of experience as a CAD Drafter, preferably in the mining industry.
• Extensive experience in Mining, Heavy Industrial, EPCM, Oil & Gas, Tunneling, or Infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in underground mining and underground civil infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (required).
• Experience with SolidWorks is an advantage but not required.
• Extensive experience preparing drawings for:
  • Underground mining and civil infrastructure projects
  • Greenfield and brownfield developments
  • Mine layouts
  • Structural concrete, structural steel, and timber structures
  • Brownfield repairs and mine closure projects
• Strong understanding of conceptual and detailed design processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, markups, and design concepts, and independently develop high-quality technical drawings.
• Proven ability to work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to conceptual design development—not just production drafting.
• Demonstrated experience handling complex projects with a high level of technical accuracy and independence.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate CAD Drafters.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary project environment.
